AMA Locksmith provides emergency and general locksmith services across Pimlico and Central London.
Requesting a locksmith service
You can request locksmith assistance by:
- calling 020 3576 7971;
- using the contact form on www.amalocksmith.co.uk;
- emailing info@amalocksmith.co.uk;
- contacting us through another agreed communication channel.
For urgent work, calling is normally the fastest way to contact us.
A request for attendance does not guarantee a specific arrival time unless this has been expressly confirmed.
Emergency call-outs
Emergency locksmith work may include:
- lockouts;
- lost or stolen keys;
- broken or jammed locks;
- snapped keys;
- uPVC or multipoint lock failures;
- burglary damage;
- other urgent access or security issues.
Estimated arrival times are given in good faith and may be affected by traffic, weather, road closures, previous emergency jobs or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Any arrival time stated should be treated as an estimate unless we explicitly confirm otherwise.
No call-out fee
Where AMA Locksmith states that there is no call-out fee, this means there is no separate charge simply for attending the property.
Charges may still apply for:
- labour;
- opening or gaining entry;
- repairs;
- replacement parts;
- lock changes;
- specialist work;
- out-of-hours work;
- materials used.
Any likely charges should be explained before work begins where reasonably possible.
Quotations and pricing
Prices depend on the nature of the work required.
Factors may include:
- the type of lock;
- the type of door;
- the level of difficulty;
- whether non-destructive entry is possible;
- whether parts need to be replaced;
- the time of day;
- the complexity of the repair;
- the cost of replacement parts or specialist hardware.
Telephone estimates are based on the information provided by the customer before attendance.
The final price may change if the actual lock, door or fault is different from what was described.
Where possible, the locksmith will explain the issue, available options and expected cost before beginning chargeable work.
Access and authority to instruct work
By asking AMA Locksmith to open, repair, replace or secure a lock or door, you confirm that you have lawful authority to request the work.
You may be asked to provide reasonable evidence of your right to access or control the property.
This may include:
- identification;
- proof of address;
- tenancy documentation;
- confirmation from a landlord or managing agent;
- other reasonable evidence of authority.
AMA Locksmith may refuse to carry out work where ownership, occupancy or authority is unclear.
Non-destructive entry
Where appropriate, AMA Locksmith will consider non-destructive entry before using methods that may damage the lock or door.
Non-destructive entry is not always possible.
The method used will depend on factors including:
- the lock type;
- security level;
- condition of the lock;
- whether the lock is damaged;
- whether keys have been lost;
- the construction of the door.
Where drilling or destructive entry is necessary, this should be explained before work is carried out where reasonably possible.
Repairs and replacements
AMA Locksmith considers repair before replacement where repair is practical, safe and cost-effective.
A replacement may be recommended where:
- the lock has failed completely;
- internal components are damaged beyond practical repair;
- the lock is no longer secure;
- replacement is more economical than repair;
- suitable replacement parts are required to restore proper operation.
Any recommendation is based on the locksmith's assessment at the time of attendance.
Parts and materials
Replacement locks, cylinders, mechanisms and other parts may vary in price depending on:
- make;
- security rating;
- availability;
- specification;
- compatibility with the existing door or lock.
Where possible, available options will be explained before fitting.
Substitute or equivalent parts may be used where an exact original component is unavailable, provided the replacement is suitable for the intended purpose.
Customer approval
Chargeable work should not normally begin until the customer has been told what work is recommended and has agreed to proceed.
Approval may be given:
- verbally;
- by telephone;
- by message;
- in writing;
- through another agreed communication method.
Where a landlord, managing agent, business owner or other authorised person instructs work remotely, their approval may be relied upon as authority to proceed.
Payment
Payment is due when the work is completed unless another arrangement has been agreed in advance.
Accepted payment methods may vary.
Where an invoice is issued, payment must be made within the payment period shown on the invoice.
AMA Locksmith reserves the right to take reasonable steps to recover unpaid amounts.
Cancellations
If you no longer require the locksmith after requesting attendance, please contact AMA Locksmith as soon as possible.
Where the locksmith has not yet begun travelling or committed costs, cancellation will generally not result in a charge.
Where significant travel, specialist parts or other costs have already been incurred, AMA Locksmith may seek to recover reasonable costs where legally permitted and where this has been made clear.
Nothing in these terms removes any statutory cancellation rights that may apply to consumers.
Consumer rights and urgent work
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
Where you specifically request urgent work to begin before the end of any statutory cancellation period, you may be required to expressly agree that work can start immediately.
If services have already been supplied at your request, you may still be responsible for paying for work properly carried out even if a cancellation right would otherwise apply.
Customer responsibilities
You should provide accurate information about:
- your address;
- the problem;
- the type of door or lock where known;
- access arrangements;
- parking or building restrictions where relevant;
- any known damage;
- any special circumstances affecting the property.
You should also ensure that the locksmith can safely access the relevant door, lock or property.
AMA Locksmith is not responsible for delays or additional costs caused by incorrect or incomplete information supplied by the customer.
Landlords, tenants and managing agents
Where locksmith work is requested for a rented or managed property, the person giving instructions is responsible for ensuring they have authority to approve the work.
AMA Locksmith is not responsible for disputes between:
- landlords and tenants;
- property owners and occupiers;
- managing agents and clients;
- joint owners;
- other parties claiming rights over the property.
Burglary and security repairs
After burglary or attempted burglary, AMA Locksmith may carry out temporary or permanent security repairs.
The immediate priority may be to make the property secure.
Further repairs, replacement doors, specialist carpentry or other work may need to be arranged separately where the damage extends beyond the lock or hardware.
Warranties and workmanship
AMA Locksmith aims to carry out work with reasonable care and skill.
Where a fault arises that appears to relate directly to work completed by AMA Locksmith, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Any warranty relating to a supplied part may be subject to the manufacturer's terms.
Warranty or remedial work may not apply where a later fault is caused by:
- misuse;
- forced entry;
- accidental damage;
- third-party work;
- building movement;
- door misalignment that develops later;
- wear and tear;
- lack of maintenance;
- another unrelated defect.
Your statutory rights are not affected.
Existing faults and damage
Locksmith work is often carried out on doors, frames, locks or mechanisms that are already damaged, worn or misaligned.
AMA Locksmith is not responsible for pre-existing defects or damage that becomes apparent during inspection or repair.
Where possible, existing problems will be pointed out before work continues.
Limitation of liability
AMA Locksmith does not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
This includes liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- rights that cannot legally be excluded under UK consumer law.
Subject to these rights, AMA Locksmith is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the service was agreed.
